The building was designed by the internationally renowned Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and was inaugurated in 1978. From the inside out, the building exudes Arne Jacobsens functionalism and became one of his last works. Before his death in 1971, it was Arne Jacobsens wish that Vibeke Klint should design a number of rugs for The Danish National Bank.
